Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is accepted the gold standard of vein removal, sclerotherapy.  The vessels will gradually collapse and disappear over the course of a few weeks post-treatment. Improvement is often seen after just one to two sessions, spaced 4-8 weeks apart, however results vary and some patients will require additional treatments.

Aftercare is an important factor in maximizing efficacy and minimizing side effects from sclerotherapy. Side effects are minor and may include bruising, redness, or itching at the site. You will be asked to walk around for 10-15 minutes immediately after your treatment, followed by frequent periods of rest and elevation of legs for the subsequent 48 hours. The use of compression stockings for 5-7 days after treatment greatly increases the efficacy of treatments.
